OUR ACTIVITIES

Pottery workshops

The art of pottery has an ancient tradition that is still very much alive in Fez. The courses take place directly in the craftsmen's workshops, where you'll discover traditional techniques under the guidance of qualified potters.

The potters will show you the traditional techniques used to make pottery and mosaics, but you'll also learn more about Morocco's artistic heritage. Our aim is to support the development and renewal of local crafts, which are facing contemporary challenges.

We offer introductory courses as well as longer courses. We look forward to hearing from you!

Our prices include the fee paid to the craftsmen. They also include transfers to the workshops and materials.

Calligraphy workshop

Arabic calligraphy, or khatt (خط), is the art of handwriting based on the Arabic alphabet. Kufic, the first form of this art, evolved into various variants such as Khat Maghribi (Moroccan calligraphy), a key ornament of Islamic art, visible in the medina of Fez on mosques, medersas and riads.

This workshop introduces you to the rules and aesthetics of Moroccan calligraphy. It will begin with a walk around Al Qarawyiine University (IXᵉ century), where a researcher will explain the importance of this art in Moroccan and Islamic culture. The practical part will take place at Dar 7 Louyat, led by a professional calligrapher, and each participant will leave with his or her name written in Arabic.

Immerse yourself in the timeless beauty of abstract Islamic art.
